I have MacPorts and CPAN installed and I have only found that it is very bad to use them both the same time. I recently installed Perl 5.13.9 via CPANN because there were some updated modules which wanted a program. MacPortes updated its Pearl to 5.12.3 (/ opt / local / bin) and complained that it could not complete the installation because some .3 files already exist (E.g., Cpan.3pm). I forced the installs and the mcvs for the backup names of the MacPorts mv'd the next time I used CPAN again went through the configuration step again, so I am thinking that I will get those files back Need to, and / or uninstall perl5.12.3 / 5.13.9. If all the modules are still working correctly, it would be best to issue an order in the terminal to view / test. And in general, I am thinking about how to combine CPAN and Macpops safely.
Help?
On OS X 10.6.6.
Edit See below. I have decided it! For reference to any other MacPorts / CPAN users: I have ended force-uninstalled perl5 and CPAN from MacPorts, and purging ~ / .ccpan a Re-install perl5 I have also run a Since then, install Perl module only through CPP instead of CPAN. For example, digest :: SHA is the P5-Digest-SA at MaxPorts. For anything available on CPAN, use cpan2port by following simple instructions sudo find / opt -name Cpan (or
perl5 ) should not contain anything in some port files.
