I am a complete non-programmer who is learning the program with Ruby and Rail Framework. Currently Ruby is using 1.8.7 and Rail 3.0.3, but I think if I should really upgrade to Ruby 1.9, then I am not really anyone. ?? Legacy Costs with upgrades
What is the downside? Am I running in issues of compatibility with common gems, or even on other issues, I do not even know anything which I do not even know about guessing?
You should upgrade. Do not stick with 1.8.7. If you find gems that do not support 1.9.2 (as they are most likely not) If you have any question that GEM 1.9.2 is compatible or not, you can see it: You can easily upgrade if you are running a Unix based system.
