I have been asked by a customer to improve their site using a custom class system that was made for them (By somebody else)). Changing is not a problem, but they want to see on a test server before continuing, and the only way I can think of doing this is by dragging down the whole site, duplinking and reconnecting the database and making it One test is to upload the server. Then I have to make a change again twice, which is not really ideal.
Does anyone know a way to do this which is not the pain of such a pain? It has hundreds of files and data tables, as you expect with custom CMS and for those changes that take only a few hours to replicate the entire site, it seems that a child is unnecessary.
Cheers, Sam
Is there a "preview mode" in CMS?
Usually, in a CMS you make your changes using the Content Editing Interface, save changes, allow authorized users to view changes in preview mode, and then position the "Approved" Change in; After that the change sends live.
Various products call it a different name, and there are different ways to do this - but in custom CMS it is worth seeing whether something is the same.
