Android can't read file system Samsung Galaxy S Captivate from my PC -

My Samsung Galaxy S Capture crashes on bootup and I need to read the log dump stored on the file system. The problem is that I can not see the phone as an SD from my Windows 7 PC. I have USB connectivity which is good and can deploy the phone to APK, but I can not access the file system. How do I use the file system on this phone? Thank you
